Position Title: Quality Assurance Engineer

We are looking to hire dedicated software engineers with passion towards solving tough and challenging problems for our customers. You’ll be part of the Digital Engineering team that is responsible for building real time and distributed software solutions. The Quality Assurance Engineer is in a unique position to help transform the way people and freight are moved around the world. You will work on innovative railroad automation products - TripOptimizer® and Locotrol® XA and rail yard monitoring product - MyRailYard. You will ensure that flawless, performant and secure products and solutions are delivered to our customers. You will implement efficient and automated test methods for timely delivery of products.

Essential Responsibilities

• Develops test plans and executes them as per project plan. 80% Manual test process and 20% test automation work

• Writes effective test cases according to best practices so that crucial functional requirements are verified, and tests remain valid when code is refactored.

• Develops and executes maintainable automation tests for acceptance, functional, and regression test cases.

• Takes ownership of small tasks and deliver without supervision while using the discretion of senior members to seek help when necessary.

• Works with fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions.

• Applies principles of SDLC and methodologies like Agile/XP, CI, Software and Product Security, Scalability, Documentation Practices, refactoring and Testing Techniques.

• Skilled in core data structures and algorithms.

Qualifications/Requirements

• BE/BTech/MTech in ECE /Computer Science /EEE /IT or MCA

• 2 to 5 years of professional experience.

• Knowledge of QA methodology and industry-standard testing and bug tracking tools.

• Experienced in developing test strategies, test plans and test cases.

• Experienced in driving quality through process, instrumentation, requirements, and testing.

• Experience with either one of scripting language : Python/Java-Selenium

• Exposure to standard automation frameworks

• Experienced in working within an Agile/Scrum environment.

• Exposure to tools like Jenkins, Rally, etc

• Experience working in Linux and Windows environments.

• Experience working with relational databases like Oracle , Postgres and SQL.

• Experience in working in containerized environment ( Docker, Kubernetes ) will be added advantage.

• Experienced in communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings.

Desired Characteristics

Technical Leadership:

• Proficient in integration testing, test automation concepts and tools.

• Experience in Python/Selenium and shell scripting.

• Exposure to programming in Java.

• Exposure to working on LINUX/Unix OS.

• Exposure to Jenkins, Gitlab, Chef/Ansible and other CI/CD enablers

• Experience in working in containerized environment ( Docker, Kubernetes ) will be added advantage.

• Experience in working on software projects in the domain (Automotive, locomotive, Avionics...)

• Have a good understanding of the underlying infrastructure needed to run a large distributed system or application.
