Copeland Director, Public Affairs in DELHI, India

Job Description

Copeland India is seeking a Director Public Affairs based in New Delhi. The individual will be instrumental in analysing and updating senior management on regulatory and legislative risks, opportunities and relevant laws and regulations. The individual will liaise with national, state and local government bodies, relevant industry associations, regulatory / statutory authorities, and policy makers to address and resolve issues to achieve desired commercial outcomes for Copeland. She/ he will report to the head, Copeland India and represent the company in public fora, to create a robust Public Affairs strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on public policy and help navigate regulatory and legislative risks for the company.

  • Assist senior management in interpreting and adapting to regulatory changes in India.

  • Track, report and analyse various legislative and regulatory changes in India, Government priorities impacting the business esp. in the Consumer Goods sector and update senior management.

  • Provide guidance on licensing requirements and operational procedures, including acquisition and renewal of permits for its manufacturing plants.

  • Engage with relevant stakeholders to shape business objectives, such as obtaining licenses, expanding into new markets.

  • Enhance Copeland's reputation through strategic communication and public engagement, demonstrating expertise and diplomacy.

  • Facilitate meetings and co-operation, besides attending Public meetings organised by the Government bodies including Industry association

  • Be a focal point of contact, in coordinating and liaising in addressing potential risks/events which might impact normal operations of the Company

  • Maintain a strong professional network.

Qualifications

Copeland seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgement and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavours. The successful candidate will have:

  • About ten years of work experience.

  • In-depth understanding of regulatory affairs in the consumer/manufacturing sector in India.

  • Strong familiarity with licensing procedures in India.

  • A proven understanding of how public affairs positively impacts business growth.

  • Experience in building and managing trustworthy relationships with key government officials and regulators in India.

  • Expertise in crisis management and attention to detail.

  • An appreciation of technology, its applications and uses are helpful, along with an understanding of trends shaping policies and regulations.

  • A degree in public policy/ finance/ economics/business will be an asset. Preferred candidate should not be an ex-bureaucrat , but should have ample experience of working with the government machinery at Centre at Delhi, State and Local level on behalf of Trade & Industry
