What you will do

The following position within the Volvo Financial Services (VFS) Credit, Risk & Operations team reports to the Vice President, Credit, Risk & Operations and will be in Greensboro, NC, USA.

The Portfolio Risk and Governance Manager, NA will spearhead portfolio management and risk mitigation activities and provide support to the VFS Region North America markets to drive both commercial success and strong portfolio performance. Responsibilities would include performing analysis and modeling concerning all portfolio credit and operational risks and lead in planning around business cycle management. This role will also review, analyze, and manage the various retail and wholesale credit decision flows and PIC requests for all Market and Region level Credit submissions, while also having ownership of all Market and Regional Portfolio review processes, reporting, oversight, and governance with an eye toward identification of significant trend changes, risk exposures, and variances. In addition, this role will be charged with providing on-going feedback and training, coaching, and various risk reviews to all Market Credit and Risk functions and initiate regular departmental reviews of credit decisioning and operational processing to further enhance holistic business acumen and process improvements as identified. Finally, this role will be charged with maintenance of and frequent updates to Credit Authorities across the Region along with proper policy, procedure and controls oversight and regularly report on these and other portfolio developments to the Global Credit & Risk function.

Core Responsibilities

• Support development, alignment and monitoring of all Region NA portfolio and risk management strategy and tactics.

• Manage and administer the North America Credit Committee (NACC); provide insight and recommendations to NACC level transaction requests.

• Act as primary point of contact for Executive Credit Committee (ECC) transactions with Global Credit & Risk team; administer all NA Region originated ECC transaction flows.

• Responsible for supporting the preparation and update of all Region Credit, Risk and Operational Risk policies and directives.

• Collaborate with the markets in maintaining their risk/portfolio management policies and procedures in adherence with the region and global directives.

• Analyze, prepare, and summarize monthly closing portfolio review reports for Global Credit & Risk closing call including administering and leading monthly portfolio review meetings with the markets.

• Perform statistical validation of portfolio and credit scorecard performance while monitoring Probability of Default and Loss Given Default results on an ongoing basis; identify areas for optimization and improvement.

• Support credit and risk data management as well as help develop credit and risk visualization tools, dashboards and reporting and monitoring.

• Provide feedback and coaching on improving portfolio management and risk assessment throughout the Region Markets.

• Responsible for forecasting and monitoring risk trending, portfolio development and management and planning around business cycle fluctuations.

• Support and work with Region Markets to maintain and adhere to proper portfolio management and risk directives and ensure local compliance of region and global directives.

• Support markets with portfolio performance metric development and best practice sharing

• Support the identification and governance of regulatory requirements as they relate to Credit & Risk Management

• Assist and ensure adherence with all market and region level business cycle fluctuation preparedness plans, business continuity plans and enterprise risk assessments.

• Provide back up and guidance as needed to regional account resolution and risk teams for large ticket workouts.

• Assist in the training/mentoring of Credit, Risk and Operations professionals throughout the Region, including participation and facilitation of the Credit and Collections Academy.

• Support and continually enable Credit, Risk and Operations process improvements, system development and other optimization projects as needed.

• Act as Key VFS Region liaison and relationship owner with 3rd party external service providers and vendors and manage all responsibilities related to vendor management, governance, contract renewal negotiations and SLA adherence as outlined and reviewed with frequency in annual vendor business reviews.

• Perform other project leadership and support activities as necessary.

• Limited travel but at times expected to visit markets, commercial partners, vendors, customers along with training, conferences and industry events as warranted.

Who are you?

• BA/BS in business or related field, MBA preferred.

• 10+ years’ experience in Credit/Risk/Portfolio Management.

• Experience using data visualization, risk and statistical analysis and modeling tools.

• Proven record of accomplishment managing a risk/credit and collection team.

• Significant experience in large transaction underwriting in both retail and dealer credit functions.

• Other related Commercial, Operational and Global experience a plus.

Required Competencies and Skills:

• Thorough knowledge of loan and lease documentation and it’s interrelationship with risk and portfolio management

• Advanced knowledge of Commercial Equipment and Transportation financing and leasing

• Advanced knowledge of Equipment Finance industry best practices to quantify risk and aggregate exposures.

• Proven excellent statistical, analysis and data manipulation skills.

• Strong understanding and advanced knowledge of commercial credit, collection & large customer work out procedures.

• Proven ability to work cross functionally with ability to build productive business relationships and achieve consensus.

• Exceptional presentation skills and technical skills and experience with MS Office, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI.

• Ability to interact with all levels of employees practicing excellent interpersonal and skills and integrity.

• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively on multiple tasks in a demanding environment.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills supported by effective interpersonal skills and a high level of integrity.

• Ability to work under pressure while producing accurate output.

• A high level of integrity, energy, and a positive customer and quality focus with ability to work within and in support of a team environment.

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English; with other language skills a plus.
