JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA is seeking a Sleep Research Human Research Technologist 2 in Psychiatry Research.

Sleep Research Human Research Technologist 2

Accountable for all overnight sleep research recordings; monitor and track research studies to ensure quality control.

Perform PSGs and DXA Scans and participate in the collection of Actigraphy, Holter EKG Monitor and other research participant data.

Maintain supplies for sleep laboratory as well as recording equipment to ensure it is in working order at all times for research studies.

Collect and analyze biological samples (saliva, urine, blood). Knowledge of phlebotomy desired but not required. Training is available if needed.

Assist with sleep research participant recruitment if not conducting overnight sleep studies.

Also participate in aspects of sleep data management for assigned projects including: develop, implement, and review data collection forms; update and maintain databases; resolve problem data issues; track research participants, data collection forms, and other project materials; perform verification procedures.

Assist in the development of project specific sleep data management documentation.

Collaborate with project coordinators, statisticians, clinical investigators, clinical personnel, and other data management personnel to plan and implement sleep data management tasks for research projects.

Work Hours: primarily works 3rd shift, including some weekends, but requires some flexibility to cover 1st or 2nd shift when no overnight studies are scheduled.

This position typically requires an Associate’s degree or higher (Bachelor’s degree preferred) plus 2 years of related experience (5 years preferred) or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Registered polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) strongly preferred. Will consider sleep studies training in candidates with suitable experience.

This is a limited-term position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of re funding.

  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse History

  • Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Background Check
