Job Overview

Position Schedule: Full-Time

• Responsible for delivering integrated legal support around all regulatory issues, initiatives, and inquiries. Responsible for managing a comprehensive range of legal services for the firm and its affiliates.

• Provides strategic guidance on variety of legal issues and handles diverse legal projects.

• Uses seasoned judgment to identify and assess potential liability to the firm, its affiliates, and its associates, and communicates effectively with senior executives and leaders.

• May provide the firm and its affiliates with specialized expertise in a particular practice area such as securities, regulatory, or litigation.

• May direct the work of other associates.

Skills/Requirements

• Requires LL.B or J.D. and license to practice in Ontario or equivalent Canadian jurisdiction

• Requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility as a lawyer in private practice, in the public sector, or in an in-house counsel capacity

• Demonstrated leadership skills, ability to delegate, mentor, and work well with others

• Possesses exceptional legal knowledge, judgment, work ethic, and integrity

• Should have extensive knowledge of relevant legal area and regulatory environment

• Should have demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex matters

• Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence decisions at senior executive level of organizations

• Work experience related to securities industry is preferred

• Leadership involvement in industry associations is preferred
