Eaton Corporation System & Components Engineering Manager in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s Connected Solutions Group is currently seeking a System & Components Engineering Manager. This position is located at our Moon Township, PA location and offers a hybrid work schedule.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $105000.03 - $154000.04 a year.

The System & Component Engineering Manager works with the broader Connected Solutions Organization to develop and integrate components in the connected protection home ecosystem. The focus of this team is to build upon Eaton’s industry leading electronic breaker platform and integrate new vehicle to home components to launch affordable residential solutions. She/he will have overall responsibility for driving state of the art technology including hardware, firmware and system design for vehicle to home and interfaces to Solar, Energy Storage, Electric Vehicles and Energy Management Systems. This position will also be accountable for the engineering functions to execute deliverables as needed for the business. This position will work with peers who have responsibility for software applications, cloud interfaces and gateways.

This leader will build and lead a high performing electronics, firmware and hardware team with the ability to identify and utilize the latest in power electronics, switching and metering components along with robust communication platforms for control and data streaming.

What you’ll do:

  • Define innovative product and technology roadmaps in concert with marketing teams and business leaders. Maintains 5-year strategic product roadmaps for the connected electronic miniature circuit breaker platform. Articulates the value proposition to develop differentiated solutions for our customers’ challenges and future needs.

  • Keep current on changing technologies and best practices. Focus on Power Electronics and electronic switching components and external partnerships with suppliers.

  • Use design thinking to understand customer use cases and value propositions that relate to the form, features and cost requirements for new product development.

  • Drive design for manufacturability best practices and partners closely with Operations leadership to ensure the smooth introduction of products into production.

  • Responsible for detailed project schedules incorporating resource management, milestone deliverables, and administration of stage gate process for new product development activities. Program managers will report dotted line to this position for overall schedule ownership.

  • Provide technical and application assistance to product management, customer technical support team and field sales.

  • Assist in the analysis and resolution of quality and field warranty issues for connected electronic breakers.

  • Work with engineering leaders, Centers of Excellence and other technical leaders to advance innovation and leverage synergies across platforms. Lead the respective engineering resources from Pittsburgh, PA., Peachtree City, GA. and Pune, India design centers. Leverage other Eaton engineering centers of excellence and global product teams when appropriate.

  • Embeds Eaton’s cybersecurity requirements into connected program developments from inception thru launch and into post-launch on a continual basis.

  • Coordinate work with external development partners in specialized areas as needed.

Qualifications:

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) field from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years of experience in electrical/electronics, mechanical and/or firmware engineering

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • Relocation is not offered. Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius of the work location or be active military

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering from an accredited institution

Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in power electronics, digital design, best practice firmware and connected components

  • Strong understanding of systems design

  • Knowledge of circuit protection standards, testing and design desired, but not required

  • Proficiency in program management methodologies and tools including Agile/Scrum
