Job Description

The Senior Director, Statistical Programming Heads the Statistical Programming group across all therapy areas and is responsible for deleivery of statistical analyses for the entire product portfolio. A highly empowered and stragic role, the Head of Statistical Programming reports to VP of Statistical Reporting and Standards and partners to drive strategy and long-term vision for the group including capabilities, technology, and processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and line management to Statistical Programming function, ensuring focus on business priorities and AbbVie values.

  • Ensure quality and timeliness of statistical analysis, reporting, and regulatory submission deliverables, addressing challenges with agility.

  • Demonstrate strong technical expertise in order to promote best practices related programming environments, technology and programming skillsets.

  • Establish and monitor effective and efficient resource sharing across groups.

  • Maintain a global strategy for capability and skill development to meet current and future requirements.

  • Ensure the balance of internal and external (vendor) expertise to secure availability of the right talent.

  • Establish outsourcing strategies and execution of such strategies in support of business and financial objectives with accountability for functional budget.

  • Maintain an environment to foster creativity and transparency, and a framework for continuous improvement.

  • Drive standardization and innovation to ensure future fitness of the organization.

Qualifications

  • MS in Computer Science, Statistics or a related field with 15+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience developing and leading high performing teams.

  • Extensive experience in statistical programming related to clinical trials analysis, reporting and regulatory submissions.

  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical programming including CDISC standards and CDISC compliant submission requirements.

  • Expert knowledge of Statistical Computing Environment models and landscape.

  • Familiarity with ICH guidelines and other regulatory guidance.

  • Ability to communicate with clarity and influence to drive change and innovation.

  • Demonstrated external presence via activities within the statistical programming community.
